Revamping the Cosmos: Experience the New Flight Model in X4: Foundations Public Beta
Dec-12-2024
Utilizing the weeks leading up to Christmas presents a great opportunity to engage in the X4: Foundations Public Beta. Many may have been introduced to the space simulator through an interview featuring its director and Egosoft studio CEO. The game's trajectory is set to advance significantly in 2025. However, prior to venturing into the cosmos, significant modifications have been made to fundamental systems, particularly the flight mechanism, now undergoing testing in a Public Beta environment.
At the core of this Beta is Update 7.50, which focuses on the new flight model designed to enhance realism in flight control and offer more authentic physics. Players will perceive a tangible sense of movement and the swaying of their spacecraft. To achieve this, the team has engaged the expertise of John Pritchett, the former lead physics programmer from a renowned space simulation project.
Alongside the revamped flight model, adjustments have been implemented across all in-game ships. Engine performance, thrusters, and various ship components have been fine-tuned in line with this refreshed experience.
Moreover, new clusters and navigation routes connecting Terran and Boron sectors have been introduced, while modifications to the in-game economy have also been made. These enhancements are anticipated to launch with Update 7.50 for X4: Foundations before the close of the first quarter of 2025. Participation in the Public Beta is available now.
